Research
HCS topics are publicly writable, so trust comes from signatures, not the topic: every message envelope is Ed25519-verified against the DID root key before folding, and the event history is bounded AND fail-closed — a topic exceeding the bound refuses to resolve rather than serving potentially stale state, because silent truncation would be floodable by an attacker without the key. A DIF Recommended method.
